The Path has a Name.....Chemotherapy

I have been waiting to find out what the path is, that will lead me back to the road I need to travel in order to return to the place I was, before this cancer saga began. The path is chemotherapy, and it will be well worn with in patient treatments at Moffitt for 3-5 days at a time.

Dr. Letson spoke with me on the phone this morning to prepare me for what is to come. It will be at least six months of going every three to four weeks to be infused with a very special cocktail just for me.....not as much fun as Cosmopolitans, I do dare say, but a life saving elixir that will make me a "real girl" again! My image is that I will be washed clean of the cancer and forever changed by my renewed strength and appreciation of good health and the simple pleasures of life.

Hellen Keller said that life is either a daring adventure or nothing. I dare to make this a very big adventure and I will be honored to share it with my friends and family and try to keep my complaining at a minimum : )

I expect my friends to hold me to this pact!

  1. I suspect that nothing that comes from your lips will be deemed a complaint my dear.

  2. while the Journey will be full if challanges. the end result will be worth every bit of it. allow your self the gift to complain when needed, ask for help, and lean on the ones you love! we all see how strong you are but it is ok to be weak when you need to. our thoughts and prayers are with you!! wendy and George

  3. With friends we don't call it complaining , it's venting. It's normal and expected. Did I already tell you how wonderful and inspiration you are us. I know there may be bumps ahead but I know that if there is anyone who can overcome it, YOU can. Hugs and kisses, Jackie and Mike

  4. I only really see you as light and fun and poetic movement. If you find yourself wanting a certain food and I can deliver it to you, please let me know. Or a bottle of wine. ; ) Many hugs and strength for those days when you light might flicker. xoxo

  5. You, Kathy, have been an example throughout this entire event. I have not heard you utter one complaint even though none of us would blame you. When you had the terrible pain prior to the surgery, you never complained. Kathy, we are all here for you and those who love you - and we are many - are here to lend a shoulder for you (without suffocating you) and to help you when you need help. Please ask us. Kathy you have embodied the words "grace"and "poise" throughout this entire event just like you depicted in the beautiful art of Ballet. you are a graceful, poetic person Kathy, you have shown us what a "hero" can be. In the meaning of the word hero, there is a phrase which is completely appropriate for you - a person who is regarded as a model or ideal. You have been a model for all of us.
    Love u, girlfriend!!

  7. Hi Kathy, this is my first visit to your blog, but I'm all in now, rooting for you! So... here's to the chemo restoring a harmonious balance between your body and it's beautiful mind!

AND....here is some mind chemo: beautiful poetry and music, hope you like, hope it makes you feel good!:)

    "Now Suzanne takes your hand
And she leads you to the river
She is wearing rags and feathers
    From Salvation Army counters
And the sun pours down like honey
On our lady of the harbour
And she shows you where to look
Among the garbage and the flowers
There are heroes in the seaweed
There are children in the morning
They are leaning out for love
And they will lean that way forever
    While Suzanne holds the mirror
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that you can trust her
For she's touched your perfect body with her mind."

    Suzanne, Leonard Cohen
